#ZITHAPPENS skincare event // The Body Shop

On Tuesday I was invited to The Body Shop to go and try the new additions to the tea tree range. It was recently the launch of Tea Tree 3-In-1 Wash.Scrub.Mask and the Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution. As well as this, it was also the launch of their new eyeshadow pallette's, the Down To Earth collection. I'm about to share with you my experience and separate reviews to come in later blog posts.

When I was invited into the store I honestly didn't know what to expect, it's been a while since I was blogging beauty since having Imogen and it was probably the best kick I needed. It was such a friendly atmosphere and I couldn't praise Alicia enough for her skincare expert advice.

I  had a consultation with Alicia about my skincare, my routine and the things that I have trouble with or I would like to see in my skin. I've had a lot of breakouts since being pregnant due to a lot of junk food that I was craving, (I know I know but you know what, sometimes you have to give in!) and the hormones before and after giving birth. My skin was completley different but also the same. My skin reacted differently to products I used on a daily basis and I explained all of this to her. I'm a normal and prone to dry skin. I wouldn't say I'm oily apart from around my nostrils and my eyelids.

I wanted to find something to help treat my blemishes and something to give me extra moisture for my skin as I've started to get fine lines in my forehead and under my eyes. *Sleepless nights*

Alicia, the skincare expert talked me through what I should use after answering a skincare questionnaire on the ipad and adjusted it to add tea tree into my routine. She also explained to me that she has very similar skin care problems and the same skin type. I think it made it easier for both of us because we had that in common and we could joke about them morning bags.

As I went into the store with makeup, she gave me a full cleanse and facial using all of the above products (apart from the 3 in 1 mask).

The Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil was used to take off my makeup and used on cotton pads lightly to remove my mascara. For a nourishing cleanse and tone she then proceeded to use the Vitamin E Cream Cleanser and the Vitamin E Hydrating Toner. I personally use two different cleansers to take off makeup so I was glad to see that they did as well. My makeup melted off my face and it felt a lot softer and gentle.

After the cleansing Alicia then proceeded to moisturize my skin by using the Drops of Youth Concentrate as well as Drops of Youth, Youth Cream. It left my skin feeling firmer and soft. To prepare for make up she used a few drops of the Tea Tree Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution and patted it into my skin. She explained that she used it herself and that it was also a brilliant primer base before makeup as hers didn't budge during the day thanks to using this product. After all of this pamper I was ready for makeup.

However before that, she rubbed a little of the 3 in 1 Wash Scrub Mask on to my hand so I could see the affects it would do if I was to try it on my face.

Afterwards she gave me a makeover using the new Down to Earth 8 pallette. I was really keen on the shimmery gold/yellow toned shade so she based the look around that! To be honest, I'm a full coverage kinda gal. I don't like powder on myself because I do tend to look cakey no matter what I use or how lightly. She first applied the Fresh Nude Foundation on my face in the shade Bora Bora. After she mixed the foundation with lightening drops to highlight my face and then proceeded to bake using a translucent powder. Afterwards she used the Vitamin E spray to wet the eyeshadow brushes to get a more opaque coverage of colour onto my eyelids.

I think the Eyeshadow palettes are great for natural eye looks night time or day time. I personally wouldn't purchase one because the colours aren't something I would get use out of every day but I would recommend a friend to try them out.

My overall experience was amazing and for anyone who isn't too sure about what they need in their skin care routine, or they're just looking for something new I would check it out. I know The Body Shop is a household name but not everyone has gone and had a try for themselves. I'm honestly not being paid to praise them here haha! And yep, of course I had a little "oh go on, treat yourself" moment.. well, I did pick something up for the other half too! I wasn't that greedy...

Until next time!
